Got Shots - 2021 (PDF)
This has been quite a year! Thankfully, NM has been stellar in distributing and administering COVID-19 vaccine. Now with COVID-19 infections on the decline and herd immunity within sight, it’s especially important to focus our attention on catching children up on their needed regular vaccines. We know that many children have fallen behind this year.
We will hold our annual “Got Shots” campaign July 24-August 14. We invite you to sign up now to participate as a Got Shots provider for your community. Please check the CDC website for information on COVID-19 in children and for suggestions on how to hold your clinic safely.
Many children need immunizations for school, and this year has been particularly challenging due to stay at home orders and postponed well child checks. We encourage your clinic to participate in Got Shots. In order to do that, we ask you to consider the following:
- Hold your Got Shots clinic on one or more of the days during July 24-August 14, preferably during evening or weekend hours to accommodate working parents;
- See any child who presents for immunizations without an appointment, regardless of whether they are a patient or whether they have insurance;
- Bill insurance for the administration fee reimbursement, but during your event, we ask that you immunize all children at no cost to the parent, including co-pays;
- Complete timely data-entry of all vaccines into NMSIIS;
- Follow all CDC and AAP guidance for safe clinic practices during the pandemic.
Posters will be available for download to help your clinic advertise and announce your dates and times of participation. NM DOH will be helping to advertise using radio ads.
We plan to provide bags of incentives for you to give out to your patients 0-18, as per usual. In order to have sufficient bags of incentives, we ask that you register by June 29. If you will be traveling to ABQ and can pick up your bag on July 6 or anytime after that, please let us know.
Please join the New Mexico Department of Health, the New Mexico Primary Care Association and the New Mexico Immunization Coalition, along with our managed care partners, Presbyterian Healthcare Services, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico, and Western Sky Community Care, in making sure that all New Mexico children are immunized on time!
Be sure to fill out the attached registration form (PDF) and return by Tuesday, June 29. Thanks in advance for your participation! Please contact any of us if you have questions.
